2016 Virtual Book Drive

April 15, 2016  //  United Way

Thanks to you, our generous donors, we surpassed our $9,500 goal and raised an astonishing $10,050!

A growing number of children in Lincoln struggle to read each day. Lincoln currently has an 82% third grade reading proficiency as stated in the Lincoln Vital Signs report. It’s also reported that third grade students who do not read proficiently are four times more likely to leave school without a diploma. Many children do not have books in their homes.

With the dollars raised during Virtual Book Drive, books will be purchased and then delivered by volunteers to children in our community starting on United Way’s Day of Action on Tuesday, June 21 and distributed throughout the year at various locations. Watch for future emails. Thank you for your support and for giving a child the opportunity to develop a love of reading!
