Harvest Event raises funds to provide Thanksgiving food baskets to families

United Way’s newest leadership group, the Emerging Leaders, welcomed fall with a Harvest Event at Roca Berry Farm south of Lincoln on September 30. Families and individuals joined the Emerging Leaders for an afternoon of fun and family activities. Popcorn, apples, pizza and beverages were provided thanks to generous donations from local businesses. Each family was also able to take home a pumpkin to carve, paint or display.
A portion of every entry fee from the Harvest Event will be used to provide Thanksgiving food baskets to families in need in Lincoln and Lancaster County. The Emerging Leaders, who are community members age 40 and younger who donate $500 or more annually to United Way and Community Health Charities, have been actively volunteering in the community during their first year. This was the first event hosted by the Emerging Leaders and provided a great opportunity to introduce the group to young Lincolnites.
