The Women in Philanthropy group is a very active one, and we are always looking for volunteers to serve on one of the working committees. Below are several ways you can get involved and help make a difference in the community.
The networking committee identifies strategies and events to engage new members and retain current members. Three networking events are held each year to allow members a chance to network with other women.
ENGAGE. EMPOWER. GRADUATE. initiative
Enrich the life of a child – sign up to volunteer with the Family Literacy program! Research tells us that young children who participate in conversations, are read to regularly, have books in their home and develop print awareness have a head start on reading and literacy skills when they enter school. But for some children, their parents may not know how to read or speak the English language…
The Family Literacy program (FLIP) wants to help those parents by providing adult education classes. They can not only better themselves, but enrich the lives of their children.
The Emerging Leaders and Women’s Leadership Councils are asking for your help.
While parents are attending classes, their children (aged 0-5) are being cared for by Lincoln Public School paras and would appreciate additional volunteers. You will be encouraged to read, play and explore with the children. It is a 2-hour commitment from 9:15 – 11:15 am.
If interested, please sign up now to volunteer!

Helping Hands Auction
The Helping Hands Auction Committee helps plan Women in Philanthropy’s largest annual fundraiser. Guests network while bidding on a wide range of items through-out the evening. There is something for everyone! Auctioned items include jewelry, accessories, gift cards, desserts, wine, gift baskets, and experience packages in both a silent and live auction. Proceeds purchase diapers and warm winter clothing for families in need. Scholarships are also provided annually for children to attend specialty medical camps.
How do I join Women in Philanthropy?
Becoming part of Women in Philanthropy is simple. All you have to do is make an annual contribution to United Way at the designated WIP giving level ($500 or more). To be sure your name is added to the WIP membership list, don’t forget to check “Women in Philanthropy” on your giving form.
Please note: If your annual contribution is $1,000 or more, you will be listed among the
Women Leaders in Philanthropy.
