Jenni Christiansen – 2014 Award Winner

 

Jenni has been a strong advocate and supporter of United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County for nearly 10 years. Her dedication to this organization and our community is reflective in her commitment to ensuring the youth in our community succeed and go on to being productive citizens. Jenni has been diligent about educating herself on the needs in Lincoln and taking action to change the opportunities that children and their families have available to them to be successful. Through the years, she has served in various capacities:

  • Started as a Loaned Executive
  • Member of a Fund Distribution team
  • Campaign chair for Wells Fargo’s internal campaign
  • Helped start the Helping Hands Auction and later became chair of the auction
    • She was instrumental in taking the auction from a $2,000 event to raising over $30,000 annually
  • Past chair and now member of the Women in Philanthropy Steering Committee
  • Helped start the Virtual Book Drive which raised over $7,100 in 2014 to help purchase 1,600 books for youth in our community
  • Recruited for the RTM program of Readers, Tutors’ and Mentors
  • Participates in United Way’s Day of Caring
  • Helped start United Way’s local Day of Action – ( this day promotes literacy for youth during the summer)
  • Is an ongoing volunteer working with children in our local non-profits and schools
  • Has provided books for kindergarten classes for the past two years using a grant from Wells Fargo
  • Former member of the United Way campaign cabinet and the board of directors
  • Founding member of the Women’s Leadership Council and Steering Committee
  • Spokesperson for Women’s Leadership Council
  • Helped found the EMPOWER. GRADUATE. initiative and works many hours with United Way and the public schools to grow and strengthen this initiative
  • Has attended the Community School Conference (learning what other communities are doing in hope of strengthening ours)
  • Current member of the Prosper Lincoln team (a joint collaboration between the Lincoln Community Foundation and United Way)

Jenni goes the extra mile in everything she does and United Way has been the fortunate recipient of her dedication. Our organization and initiatives are stronger and run deeper because of her involvement.
