Ride United: Last Mile Delivery

Delivering shelf-stable food to our neighbors facing hunger.

Donate to help us make 10,000 deliveries in 2022.

What is Ride United Last Mile Delivery?

United Way’s Ride United Last Mile Delivery initiative, in partnership with DoorDash, is a successful national program fulfilling food insecurity needs. As one of only 31 communities nationwide to pilot this initiative, United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County brought Ride United to our community in the fall of 2020. Each week, Dashers pick up bags of shelf stable food organized by Pantry Partners like the Food Bank of Lincoln and deliver them at no cost to neighbors who are unable to access food on their own, including veterans. In 2021 alone, the program made 9,800 deliveries in Lincoln and Lancaster County.

Are there plans to grow this valuable service?

In 2022, United Way has a goal of facilitating 10,000 deliveries in Lincoln and Lancaster County through the Ride United program.

How can I help this program succeed so my neighbors have food each week?

United Way is raising $25,000 to help offset the cost of food for Pantry Partners like The Food Bank of Lincoln. Thanks to generous donations from ALLO and Nelnet, the first $12,500 in donations will be matched on a dollar for dollar basis. If you are so inclined, please consider making a donation.
