United Way agency partners deliver services to children, individuals and families within our community to help address United Way’s three pillars: Health, Education and Financial Stability. Combined Health Agencies Drive of Nebraska offers hope and support to individuals dealing with chronic health conditions. Below is a list of all the programs for which we provide financial support.
addresses the basic needs of victims of disasters and fires. Offers prevention services in low-income neighborhoods by providing smoke alarms and instructing about fire escape planning.
helps families build English language proficiency, pursue citizenship and employment, establish medical/dental homes, provides meals and helps with SNAP applications and renewals and helps families file state and federal income tax returns. The program also translates important documents from other relevant health and social service agencies, enhancing their ability to serve these clients with limited English proficiency.
has over 200 refugee and immigrant youth at several high schools and middle schools, which focus on building Developmental Assets through one-to-one mentoring, as well as holistic case management services provided to youth and families on a select case-load. Programs included: Life After High School, Yezidi Club, Untold Migrant Stories, Middle School Program and Camp Culture.
provides mentoring to children through school-, community-, and site-based matches that focus on improving academic and social skills.

recruits, trains and supports community volunteers who advocate for the needs and best interests of abused, neglected, truant and ungovernable children while they are in juvenile court.
provide “core” before and after school programming, expanded learning clubs to support academic success and social enrichment, full-time summer and school break care and family and community events to strengthen neighborhood connections for children at Clinton and Hartley Elementary Schools
provides emergency shelter and essential crisis intervention services for homeless, runaway and other at-risk teenagers.
provides child care for children aged 6 weeks–8 years, focusing on children of low-income and at-risk families and teen parents.
focuses on keeping children safe from abuse and neglect by providing services and support to prevent families from requiring formal involvement in the child welfare system.
conducts outreach and engages homeless and runaway youth to seek formal assistance in creating safer, more stable living situations and to address the issue(s) that led to their homelessness.
provides cash assistance to homeless individuals and families to assist in obtaining housing, and to those at risk of becoming homeless by providing emergency assistance to pay rent and utilities during difficult times.
is a food choice market that provides families the opportunity to select perishable and nonperishable items once per month.
provides safe, secure housing and intensive care management for women fleeing domestic violence.
provides three levels of English Language Learning classes to refugees and immigrants to adjust to life in the community and gain employment.
distributes food weekly to low-income families at five neighborhood sites.
helps low-income students successfully continue their education up to an Associate’s degree and provides childcare and transportation subsidies, wrap around case management and access to tutors.
provides direct services to victims of child abuse which include: forensic interviews; medical evaluations; on-going advocacy; Court School; referrals for mental health services; case coordination, and; professional training and community education.
addresses the issues of homelessness, near homelessness, and unsafe housing in the community through emergency services, landlord/tenant mediation, housing authority homeless voucher support services and representative payee services.
offers quality, comprehensive early childhood education and case management through health and mental health screenings, monitoring of immunizations, and nutritional assessments for home-based and center-based services.
a soup kitchen located in Lincoln providing free evening meals seven days a week to those struggling with hunger.
contains distinct programs and services that support the efforts of individuals with limited financial resources to build strong financial futures.
educates new and returning community gardeners as well as low-income families with their own land on the best methods of growing the maximum amount of food in our area. Families gain the knowledge and ability to grow a significant amount of fresh, nutritious food year after year.
focuses on increasing the academic achievement of Latino youth to bolster graduation and GED-completion rates, promote enrollment in post-secondary education, and foster positive behaviors.
combines the elements of employment assistance, resource navigation, and case management in order to help clients obtain essential resources for themselves and their families, obtain employment, and avoid homelessness.
provides Spanish crisis assistance, counseling, and support services to victims of abuse as well as transportation and interpretation/translation services, healthy living education, and English classes.
addresses children’s mental health or behavioral needs within the school setting to improve academic, personal and social performance.
delivers food into Lincoln’s low-income neighborhoods, improving access to food and grocery products
offers a residential shelter program for homeless women. The program provides transitional housing and case management in addition to referring participants to services for substance abuse, domestic violence, education, employment, medical treatment and housing assistance.
provides confidential emergency shelter, transitional housing, Rapid Rehousing and supportive services to victims of domestic violence and their children.
offers critical youth development programming that enhances both academic performance and life skills to girls in the Lincoln community.
provides clothing, household items, personal care hygiene products, holiday gifts, rent assistance, utility assistance and diapers to those in need.
assists people who are food-insecure using shopper’s-choice selection for non-perishable food once per month and perishable food twice a week.
provides individual, family, group and marital therapeutic services to children, adolescents and adults; particularly to those who have experienced sexual, physical and/or emotional trauma.
After-School Enrichment Art Classes for Low-Income and At-Risk Youth:
provides after-school art classes to under-served Title 1 low-income schools in the Lincoln Public Schools District and art classes to incarcerated and at-risk youth in the Lancaster County Youth Services Center.
oversees renovation of residential structures to ensure that design and construction allow physically handicapped persons access to and use of housing, thus eliminating barriers and enabling people to maintain their independence.
provides free legal services for protection orders, divorce, custody/visitation, establishment of paternity, child/spousal support, other family law matters, consumer/finance (credit, debt, bankruptcy, tax, etc.), public benefits (TANF, Medicaid, disability, food stamps, unemployment), and housing (public housing, landlord/tenant, and real estate). Also collaborates with local domestic violence programs to provide wraparound services to clients and make referrals to other agencies and organizations as appropriate.
provides educational support and tutoring to youth aged 13–18.
offers high-quality after-school programming to youth by providing services, opportunities and supports necessary to pursue higher education, vocational training or meaningful employment.
provides English language and literacy instruction with a focus on school readiness.
is an early identification and referral program designed to bring together families, schools and the community to support student mental, behavioral and emotional health by addressing both individual and environmental elements that influence youth.
provides adult literacy as well as child- and parent-education programs.
provide intensive, evidence-based treatment services to children and youth under the age of 19.
provides after-school opportunities for youth including tutoring, computer lab access, health education, recreation, and art activities.
neighborhood based, educational and recreational program for children ages 3-5. The program teaches social and cognitive skills, while focusing on the child learning their independence. The goal is to prepare the child for school in a playful and structured way.
supplies two hot meals a day as well as information, referrals, advocacy, life skills and identification programs to the working poor, hungry and homeless.
helps individuals move from homelessness and addiction to a stable living environment by providing transitional housing, case management, goal planning, advocacy, and referral services.
provides an open and honest community of support for bereaved children and their families. Services include education, networking, outreach, and support groups to help individuals gain a better understanding of the grief process and learn coping strategies.
offers safe and affordable child care by using creative curriculum and focusing on school readiness.
provides emergency overnight shelter beds and day shelter, three meals daily, children’s programs, individual support and advocacy, life skills workshops, and other related services (showers, laundry, mail, phone, etc.).
is a comprehensive six-month residential treatment program for chemically dependent or dually diagnosed pregnant women and women with children under the age of 12. Emergency shelter, domestic violence services along with professional medical, mental health and substance abuse services are provided.
provides students in grades 3-12 with weekly one-to-one school-based mentoring focusing on the intentional cultivation of a student’s strengths; while modeling positive social behaviors and building a meaningful, non-familial relationship with the student.
provide high quality services and resources to youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) with the opportunity to have meaningful interactions with peers, adults and their community.
provides case management to young adults to access services including financial assistance for housing and utility assistance, financial coaching/budgeting assistance and community connections to ensure their needs are met.
provides academic support, college preparation, job readiness/exploration, tutoring and long-term goal setting to at-risk youth in high school.
serves young men and women who are student parents at Lincoln Public Schools and those who are completing their GED at The HUB. Youth ACT works with these student parents to support and assist them as they accelerate through their transition into adulthood
provide a safe environment to at-risk youth supported in the hours after school with educational support and activities as including free music education instruments year-round to low-income families.
provides food, beverages, spiritual and emotional care as well as follow up care at the scene of a disaster.
provides perishable food twice a week and non-perishable food monthly to those in the Lincoln community. Year-round, a hot meal is provided to children Monday-Friday.
provides emergency utility assistance to those who are at risk of having or have had their utilities shut off.
offers 24-hour crisis intervention and advocacy, individual and group counseling, information and referral services to victims of domestic violence and their children. Also provides ongoing case management, counseling, training, and individualized case plans for women in battered situations.
provides core child care, academic clubs, enrichment activities and neighborhood enhancement for children at Lakeview Elementary School.
provide licensed preschool for 3-4 year olds and a Pre-K program for 4-5 year olds at two elementary schools – Lakeview and Roper Elementary Schools. The program focuses on developing a child’s social/emotional, cognitive, fine and large motor skills at learning stations including age appropriate math, science, language, art and dramatic play.
provides girls with after-school and summer educational experiences in science, technology, engineering and math fields.
