Interview with WingFest 2021 Chair, Kaela Paseka

July 28, 2021

Kaela Paseka is the Creative Director at Duncan Aviation and Chair of this year’s WingFest. We sat down with her to learn more about WingFest and what volunteering with United Way means to her.

UW: Kaela, since we are talking about WingFest, we have to know if you have a favorite wing spot?

Kaela: Not really, although, wings are the first thing I gravitate toward on any menu. I enjoy trying new flavors, dipped in ranch. The messier the better!

UW: How did you get involved with United Way?

Kaela: I first became involved with United Way when I started working at Duncan Aviation. I’ve played a role in our internal committee for close to 15 years. Last year, I served as the co-chair for our company campaign, and I look forward to reprising that role again this year. I have been supporting ENGAGE.EMPOWER.GRADUATE. with my contributions for close to 5 years and have served on the Emerging Leaders United committee for 4. Last year, I had the honor of serving as WingFest Vice-Chair and this year I am pleased to serve as Chair.

If anyone wants to make a difference for the Lincoln and Lancaster County community, I invite them to get involved with United Way. It can be difficult to make an impact alone, but combining a group of positive people with a wide range of talents who want to make a difference together is powerful.

UW: What does volunteering mean to you?

Kaela: Sometimes I take for granted the opportunities my own kids have access to and how many people they have in their lives teaching and helping to develop their knowledge and skillsets. Volunteering can be really eye opening and give you a first-hand glance at what challenges the community faces and how we can make a difference together. Volunteering also sets a positive example for others, hopefully encouraging them to seek opportunities to get involved and give back to the community. If you can’t make a monetary donation, volunteer your time to an agency you’re passionate about! It’s about giving of yourself to ensure everyone succeeds in life.

UW: Why should someone consider attending WingFest 2021?

Kaela: Good food! Great company! Grand cause! You can get your tickets at WingFestLincoln.com.
